entertaining and instructive

Dr. Alvin Granowsky has written a number of fairy tale-revisionist combination stories, and this pair is a fine example of what the genre has to offer. Both tales are illustrated with line drawings and each is well told, combining the best principles of language building, such as a better-than-average vocabulary and a mix of sentence lengths, without sacrificing an evocative and plausible narrative flow. The revisionist story is told by the stepmother, who contends that Snow White has resented her since her arriva; Snow White has convinced other people that her stepmother is trying to kill her.
These books are a wonderful mechanism for children who are just beginning to understand that other minds have other thoughts. The stories are well-told -- entertaining and instructive. Why lecture to your kids about morality when with a story they can begin to figure it out for themselves?

The first and, perhaps, the best of the Darkprose series. A very weird, smoking erotica tale tied up with a paranormal theme. Well-written and decently edited.

I'm still new to smoking erotica, but this book held my interest for all of its short length. It was well-worth the $1 price. An anti-smoker advocate and educator falls for a smoking doll - almost robot - which is so much more than a doll. Reminiscent of all the creepy doll stories you've ever read, but with an erotic twist. A turn-on and an interesting, slightly predictable ending.

Lisa is clearly a forward and creative thinker. this book includes a chapter on induction Hearing Loop technology. This technology not only makes venues ADA compliant but is highly praised by hard of hearing consumers the world over. Hearing loops help users of hearing aids hear in places where hearing devices alone are unable to deliver. Where loops are integrated with existing PA systems they allow users of hearing aids to hear clearly without background noise. Lisa apparently not only wants the venues she serves to be functional and look good – she wants everyone to hear!

TL; DR- Problems with focus, but great item selection. 90%

Basics- Welcome to the world of tomorrow! The Technology guide is the extra setting book that GMs of the Iron Gods will need to handle all the new technology items and some rules presented in that adventure path. This book introduces a number of new archetypes, feats, spells, rules, and skill uses for the base classes as well as a prestige class. Then, the book moves onto introducing several technological items, weapons, armor, drugs, and generators. Finally the book adds new hazards, rules, and artifacts for the Iron Gods campaign and Numeria as a whole.

Mechanics or Crunch-This book is a combination of the Ultimate Equipment book and the People of the River. The book adds an insane amount of items all with new rules how to handle them. The rules make sense within the Pathfinder system and help distinguish technology from magic. The character options are all well done and provide some awesome Numeria flavor for any technology based campaign you could be running. 5/5

Theme or Fluff- This book does have a decent amount of story. Each item gets a short description in addition to its rules and a picture. The pictures might not be amazingly large, but there are pictures you can show to your players and help them envision the world of Numeria. The book even goes so far in depth to describe the different types of metals found in Numeria and what they look like. It's not a perfect theme book, as the primary focus of the book is to provide rules and items, not to provide story. But, what is here does have some decent story to it. 4.5/5

Execution- I love how Paizo puts their books together. Even though this is an item book, the pictures and layout really breaks up the text and makes this much less of a drag to read. The problem I have is that this book is a Pathfinders setting book. The setting books are not designed to be given to the players. However, a 1/3 of this book is player options. This book is kind of indicative of the problems I've seen with the Iron Gods roll out of as a whole. To do the Iron Gods AP justice, several new character options, items, and rules all have to be introduced. However, all the Numeria character options are spread out across at least four books, and the rules are also spread out across some of these four books, but different rules are also in other books. This is particularly a problem with this book as players are not supposed to look at this book. But, as a GM you almost have to give it out, so base class characters can have additional class options. It's not world ending problem, but the lack of focus is apparent. 4/5

Summary- Honestly, if you are going to GM the Iron Gods AP, you've most likely bought this book already. If you have no plans to ever put technology in your Pathfinder game, then this book has literally nothing to offer you. It's a good book for what it is (character options and items), but it has some problems with focus. 90%

Just got this. Its full of many things for someone to make a Numerian characters, or to add to an existing character. new spells and technological feats are spelled out as well as gadgets and gizmos galore (many of which I would love to add to my paladin who has the boon numerian weapon training - anyone want a paladin toting a grenade launcher?). I would suggest getting it especially for the Iron Gods path or any season 6 scenarios.

As a sourcebook for technology as a mysterious and misunderstood force in a world of magic, it is not bad. It lacks a number of things, for example there is no section on transportation. As such, it could be better if it was more complete.

This is a great Harry Potter quiz book. It's the first one I've ordered after reading many reviews. Some of the questions are super hard and some of them are easy. We had fun passing it around and using it like a trivia game.

Reads like a comic book. Superb Gift, Good teaching tool.

I disagree with the review written by Andrew B. Morseman on September 20, 2000, and I strongly recommend this book for teachers of higher elementary grades and summer or Vacation Bible schools. I respect his opinion, which is why I am rebutting it here, legally, in view of the public.
This book is an excellent way to expose older children and young teens to the bible as religious literature, or as educational literature, because it synopsizes events, clarifies characters, and artfully omits some of the vissictudes and harsher realities of ancient times.
While not fully accurate to the facts, the general events and key characters are magnified as the centers of the stories, with geneaologies of the Hebrew and Israelic ancestors telescoped or omitted. Most children do not have the attention span or interest to digest the historical record-keeping which the bible contains, and many are not ready to deal with the full goriness of bloodshed, sex, and intricate conspiracy which dominates all of human history. The Picture Bible dances around many such events which are distracting with regard to the main storyline, (i.e. the rape of Tamar does not directly affect the life or rule of David) omitting irrelevancies and euphemizing "mature" material.
The illustrations cleverly indicate the characters, their moods, and the passage of time, to project a limited idea of the timeframe of the individual stories, the scope of indivdual storylines, and people interweave seamlessly as individuals from one story to another. The chapter divisions are marvelously episodic, and clearly identify the biblical texts from which they are derived.
Books paraphrazed or synopsized, but not omitted from mention, are the major and minor prophets, the Psalms, the Proverbs, and the Song of Solomon. swaths of the Pentateuch are left out, and the Letters and travels of Paul, the other events in Acts and the other letters, and the Revelation of St. John are all synopsized or given prominent mention. Every book of the canonical Bible is conspicuously mentioned at some point. The meaning of the prophetic books is under much debate and is largely a conceptual or spiritual problem, not suited for younger ages. The books of Psalms, Proverbs, and Song of Solomon (a.k.a. Canticles) are mentioned but left out because they contain no story material of themselves. Leviticus and Deuteronomy contain almost nothing but the Mosaic Law, which is of little or no interest to young minds (the Ten Commandments are stated Verbatim from the King James Bible on a separate illustrated page), and other books contain material that simply can't be worked into a storybook grounded in corporeal facts and events.
As to inerrancy and infallibility; only the Truth Himself is inerrant and infallible; there are many nuances of bare facts that have been lost to history and translation, and bibles as late as the King James and Douday Original Version have been shown to contain errors of translation, content, and meaning, while scripts like the Latin Vulgate of St. Jerome were rejected as un-canonical although they contained neither gross nor suttle errors of meaning or doctrine. Even today books touted as Bibles contain many errors that do disservice to both Christian Doctrine and scholarly and literary accuracy. The admitted errancy of this book is not that of a knave, but of a knight. It is fallible so that it might be more authentic, and less artifical. I think it is very useful as a stepping stone, even if it isn't the Rock of Truth.
I first studied Christian Literature using this bible, and when I dug into the King James version, I didn't get lost becuase I already knew the main storyline, and could identify key characters. I also did not find the omissions to be misleading or ingenuine to the stories themselves, or discredit the characters or ideas presented in the stories.
All in all, this is a wonderful book for older preteen readers; it conveys the key events and ideas found in the bible, has skilled and meaningful illustration (which helps the story along as much as the dialogue) and presents religious truth without any authoritative invocation or declaration. I like the content, but I would change the title to "The Comic Book Bible."

Awsome comic Bible

My 9 year old son received this Bible for christmas last year and in one year he read it from cover to cover 7 times. He loves it.

This is how I still picture Bible characters.

Throughout our elementary school years, my sister and I did our nightly "devotions" using this comic book Bible. Though I'm now 29 years old, I still imagine all the events in the Bible just the way this comic book portrays them.

My own young children have been given many Bible story books, but most of them focus only on the cute, feel-good stories such as Noah's ark, baby Moses floating in the reed basket, and baby Jesus in the manger. The Picture Bible, on the other hand, contains a much broader story selection, even some more graphic drawings, such as Goliath being slain by David. (Don't worry, it's not TOO graphic.)

There's only one problem with this "Bible:" The characters look quite caucasian. The drawings are probably not ethnically accurate.
