It's excellent, well-written

This is at least my fourth recent read book on molecular ecology and conservation genetics (getting up to speed again for my MSc thesis study). It's excellent, well-written, accurate and has a user-friendly text. I'm halfway through and I've enjoyed (and profited from) almost every page.

My only gripe (not enough to take any stars off) is that they gloss over NextGen technologies, but I suppose that's not unusual since it's a 2011 text and the field changes so rapidly. I'm very eager for the 3rd Edition of Beebee & Rowe (same title) to be released in March 2017--that will probably warrant six stars if their first two editions are anything to go by.

Beyond theory to practice

As I began my dissertation Moustakas book helped me traverse the often confusing waters of phenomenology. I had read bits and pieces about the topic, but he does a masterful job unpacking the philosophy, juxtaposing it to the practice, and pulling it all back together into a coherent picture. Further, he has several good chapters on the practice which one could use to do a P study (I am no longer moving in that direction but it will certainly inform my methods section). So, I write as one who has had the lived experience of reading Moustakas' book and my phenomenology will never be the same ; )

Wonderful text!

I am using this modern revision of The Scarlet Letter in an American Literature class that I teach. I cannot rave enough about it! The simplified language is not too different from the original, and it is easily understood. My class is enjoying their study of Hawthorne's classic, thanks to Jim McGuiggan!

Very edited, and not well

I bought this book hoping that the only changes would be taking out the thou's and thee's and a few other of the most obscure terms. However, this book is very heavily edited and unfortunately takes out some of the main literary devices and themes. From the very first chapter where the editor takes out Hawthorne addressing the reader directly, it seems very much like the editor does not have a strong grasp on the more important aspects of the book. I definitely will not be using this book in my English class.

Best Enemies is a really good book. It is about a seventh grade girl named Sasha and how she goes to the school called Canterwood Crest which is a good academic and horseback riding school. The school year is coming to an end and there is a lot of pressure on the students there.
There is a lot of pressure on students for a couple of reasons. The first is all the students at Canterwood Crest have finales at the end of the year. Secondly, Canterwood Crest has been given a good opportunity for riders on the advanced team to tryout for the Youth Equestrian Riding Team (YERT). Sasha and a couple of other riders were picked to try out for Yent and they needed to practice a lot. They had to give up a lot of there social time. Sasha deals with a horse that has difficulty in the water.
I would highly recommend this series and books to boys and girls that have the love for horses and want to become a great rider. I would give this book a five out of five star rating.

Enjoyable breezy read

One of best humour books which accurately portrays the modern life of working professionals. Without letting the cat out of the bag, it is kind of a love story of a successful but soon to be divorced professional in his late 30s with a single mother of a toddler. There many pages where you will burst out laughing and your partner or room mate will look at you curiously but that is an occupational hazard.

Enjoyable and easy read. Recommended for inflight reading, reading in the Airport lounge or on the Airport bus taking you to your flight. I recommend the paper back as no Air Hostess will ask you to turn it off while waiting for the Aircraft to takeoff

An interesting fiction story of Sorting Out Sid is about so many things happening in the life of Sid and how he manages to tackle each of the situation. Sid (Siddharth Agarwal) has been married to Mandira for 15 years and has reached to the peak of his career at an early age of 36. He becomes a Vice President of its sales division and interestingly is termed as CTO (Chief Toilet Office) by his boss as the company is into selling of toilet products.

Storyline – Relevant, something we can relate to in today’s life.

Language – Simple and engaging.

Characters - Well etched with all their imperfections. One can relate to each one of them. We are all surrounded by the likes of Sid, Aditi, Neha, Mandira, Sunny, Vikas, Akash and Ms. Meenakshi. Some we recognize, some we ignore and some we deny. But the fact remains that they are all there around us.
Each of the characters contributes to the story.

Message - The book is a wake-up call to the innumerable Sid’s busy making a career at the cost of a meaningful family life. It gives us an insight into the reasons for the ever increasing break –ups, divorces and embittered relationships the Indian Society is witnessing today.

LOWS

Length and momentum - The first part to me seemed to drag forcing me to put down the book quite often. However by the time I reached the second part things started gaining momentum. Fewer pages would have meant a crispier, engaging narrative right from the word ‘go.’

Humor- Each person’s sense of humor is different. So for me was this tale truly hilarious as mentioned in the back cover? Well, there were certainly a few places where my face broke out into a smile. But did I laugh out loud? No.

Editing - Unnecessary repetitions at a few places.
