Listening is persuasive
By Joyce
I had the opportunity to meet the Glasers and attend a series of their classes. Their dynamic presentations illustrated well their main point: listening is persuasive. Their workshops and book give excellent guidance to two communication areas that are particularly difficult for human beings: raising delicate issues (giving criticism) and responding to criticism. Although much of their work is in the corporate world, their methods have a spiritual dimension. Learning to be quiet and actively listen to criticism, to ask for details and even offer examples to the critic requires more than a modicum of equanimity. Probably even harder for most of us is to let people know what we think when we have criticisms. To do it in such a way that doesn't raise hackles unnecessarily is a sophisticated skill requiring a kind of humility. Key to this kind of honesty is knowing the difference between what you have observed and your interpretations. Specific observations are an important aspect of good communication, and sticking to them instead of trying to prove we are right by our interpretations draws on the spiritual quality of detachment. Our weekly group studied and practiced this book for a quarter and found it very useful.

Everyone can benefit from the skills taught in this book.
By I. Kaufman
I recommend this book to individuals who wish to be persuasive and popular; to businesses that want to have employees working as a team; to families that want all its members to enjoy each other with empathy and pleasure; and to government agencies that look for cooperative approaches to ordinarily divisive policies.
This book is instructive in a completely enjoyable way. Step by step, everyone stands to be more aware and skillful when it comes to communicating with a goal.
Great book!
